Great diving, great people, great company spent the week diving with the BODR team. Most excellent choice, lekker like a cracker even ! Had dived with others here on previous trips thought we'd try BODR, for a change and delighted we did. Facilities at the base are as good as anywhere we've dived worldwide - clear communication, great organisation pre departure each day, good hire gear, friendly service from Crystal and AD who are always on hand to assist, great dive guides (Kyle and Rae) and expert boat skippers Malcolm and Cam will get you out and back safely thru the surf break along with great sense of humour and customer service from the team too. These guys know the sites, baited shark dives are excellent and reef dives were pretty good too. The reef Viz can be up and down (they can't control that!!) Whatever the conditions they work hard to try make every dive a good one. When you get back hot showers and great wash down areas to clean dry gear, excellent camera bay for charging set up and safe storage of gear, hot coffee and toast and a great restaurant on site if you want it. Faultless, will definitely use these guys in future when we return - thanks for an awesome time, our family loved diving with you guys !!

Great Experience with Blue Ocean! It was a big risk to trust Blue Ocean Dive Resort to teach our children (ages 12 & 14) for their open water certification but we could not have picked a better company for the task. From our opening communication with Nikki to our goodbyes from the whole Blue Ocean family, we saw teamwork and passion for what they do. Their slogan “We’re not just a team, we’re a family” rings true. Mikey, the instructor for our children’s course, took excellent care of them and taught them in a way that was accessible and fun. It is hard as a parent to give control of your children’s safety over to someone else; when you’re in the hands of such professionals, it makes it much easier. One of our dives had some strong currents and poor visibility but we knew the entire time that our safety and well being was foremost in the mind of the staff. Skipper Cammy was also a true master at navigating the launch and trip out to the dive site. We are traveling around the world with our kids for a few months and had a choice of getting them certified anywhere in the world; we are happy we choose Blue Ocean Dive Resort.

1st class dive operation and world class diving We didn't stay at the resort but did 2 days diving on Aliwol Shoal. We are very experienced divers from the UK and were looking to sample what this world renown location had to offer. My initial contacts seem to be getting quite slow responses which was worrying, and ended up without some of the answers I had been looking for - it seems that the hotel operation and the diving aren't quite as joined up as they could be and the website although pretty isn't always clear. Comms weren't helped by cellphone outages the day before our diving and me not being connected to the internet unless using a hot spot provided by one of our fellow local travelers. However upon arrival at 6am all our concerns were allayed.1st up we are not used to being looked after, its very much the opposite of the UK where divers dive and don't expect folks to carry kit, assemble kit, or be provided with drinks etc. So after the relief of seeing our names on the dive roster, it was a big suprise to be greeted as we stepped through the door, be taken to our kit area, introduced to our divemaster, given drinks and toast, and a schedule discussed. With an hour before we left we had time to figure things out, get kit sorted, get suited up and zoom our kit was taken and loaded on the boat - take this leave that, no problems. The briefing was from Rae our divemaster, was to the point, detailed and entertaining. Our boat buddies were all suitably experienced for the relatively deep (~30m) dive. Then to the boat and out to the launch site. Again kit was put on board and we followed. The skipper was excellent, exuded experience and skill and took us out through the breakers at the mouth of the river with very little trouble.A 20 minute ride to the dive site and again lots of help - not used to that - and in. The visibility was great, the wildlife great (turtles, distant sharks of several species, many reef fish, nudibranchs, etc etc) the divemastering great (drift dive so managing the reel/bouy, keeping tabs on the group). Overall spot on. 2nd dive just as good. Then back in.Day 2 our kit was all washed and dried, our pouch weights had all got back to the right place, defo not used to this. Another fab dive on the reef then the baited shark dive. Not having met any large toothy 'denizens of the deep' I was a little apprehensive but never fear! Again Rae had things totally under control after a good briefing, she kept the bait flowing out of the bait ball, and wielded a camera, and kept tabs on everyone. Soon we had many large potato groupers and 9 black tip sharks cruising around - and the sharks were definitely 2nd class citizens compared to the groupers. The 2m sharks just cruised smoothly by and were never threatening, the groupers clumsily bumped us.All too soon it was over and we returned topside to pineapple chunks and juice. So an excellent and smooth operation on land, and equally good underwater to match up with the diving. Solid skipper (very very important and a solid divemaster). Would not hesitate to recommend Blue Ocean diving to anyone.

One of the best! We stayed only 3 nights beacuse we didn't have much time, but it does worth to stay a bit more to enjoy with more dives and with the charming people. The dive Centre is one of the best we visited in the world, people es very qualified and very helpful. The restaurant is also very good, nice people, live music and tasty food! Very good vibes! The dives were very nice, even we were not very lucky, we enjoyed and they all try to get us a perfect days. Thank you so much for everything, we definitely must to come back, to have more time together and more chances to watch the amazing marine life in the area. Thank you so much to everyone, Crystal, Adrian, Rae, Kyle... Thank you. Hope to meet you again!

Awesome 7-night stay with incredible diving My “future son-in-law” and I once again decided to visit Blue Ocean Dive Resort, this time to complete our PADI Deep and Wreck speciality courses. My wife and daughter, who were unable to join us on our previous visit, joined us for the last two nights and had a great time. As the accommodation, restaurant, bar, and dive centre are all on the same premises, the eat, sleep, dive, repeat, daily routine is extremely convenient, and even though my wife does not dive, she enjoyed just chilling and relaxing at the lodge.Once again from the moment we arrived we were made to feel a part of the Blue Ocean family, and the hospitality and friendship that was extended to us by Gary, Nicki and the rest of the Blue Ocean team was exceptional and greatly appreciated. Our rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable with ensuite bathrooms and showers. The aircons in the rooms added to the comfort, and the electric kettles were very convenient. We ate most our meals at the restaurant which has a good varied menu, and the food was superb, particularly the all-day breakfasts, the pizzas and the milkshakes. The evening entertainment, including live music and karaoke was great fun. With regards to diving, everything was handled extremely well by the experienced, competent, and friendly staff, including organizing rental equipment, the dive planning, the “shuttle” ride to the beach, and getting to the dive sites by rubber inflatable boats, which for each trip was an exhilarating experience, handled exceptionally well by skilled and experienced skippers. Our dives at numerous sites were incredible, including the Produce Wreck, the Nebo Wreck, Bay of Caves, Cathedral, Baff Cave, South Sands, Eelskins, Raggies Cave, Shark Alley, and Garden of Eden. A special word of thanks to Julia who is extremely pleasant, professional, and knowledgeable, who went out of her way to ensure that we were safe and well looked after at all times, and that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Whilst diving we saw lots of amazing marine life, including ragged tooth sharks, bull sharks, white tip sharks, devil ray, round ribbon tail ray, blue spotted stingray, marbled electric ray, grey spotted guitar fish, honeycomb moray eel, yellow mouth moray, potato bass, tomato rock cod, lionfish, scorpion fish, stonefish, trigger fish, parrot fish, pipefish, and many other fascinating marine fish.We also went on a baited shark dive which once again was brilliant and definitely worth it, being surrounded by oceanic blacktip sharks swimming all around us, enabling us to appreciate and observe these impressive sharks up really close in their own environment.Overall, we had an awesome stay at Blue Ocean with plenty incredible diving and cannot wait to return once again.
