Spotted Sand Tiger and the Hump Back Whale migration. A wonder of nature waiting to be explored at a crazy price for an all inclusive package. The migration only happens between 1 June and 30 September annually.
Dives
- Raggies: This is the time of the Ragged Toothed Shark (South African name) Spotted Sand Tiger (International Name) Migration to Aliwal Shoal where they congregate in massive numbers. The purpose of this migration is because this is their mating time, and Aliwal Shoal is their traditional breeding ground. As you can see from the video its really up close and personal, but due to being their mating season completely safe. Important to emphasize that they are big in numbers and can be seen on every dive in multiple dive sites on Aliwal Shaol.
- Humpback Whales: This time also coincides with the Humpback Whale migration. although sightings on scuba are rare, they are sighted from the boat every day breaching and playing. they are seen every day on the boat ride to the dive sites as well as entertainment during surface intervals.
- Winter Ray Species: This is the time when there is an abundance of Round Ribbon Tale rays, and massive Honeycomb Rays.
Wrecks: This is time for the best conditions to explore our 2 wreck dives which are 2 of the best recreational wreck diving sites in the world.
